Learn about trimming your own pottery. This process is about refining the shape and weight of your work. Using the potter’s wheel to removing excess clay. Glazing Basics (dipping)

This session if focus on Dipping Glazes, Firing at Cone 6 2232°F (1222°C
Glazes are used to waterproof, decorate, and give pottery a smooth, glass-like surface for both functional and decorative purposes. In this workshop, you’ll learn basic glaze application techniques, including brushing and dipping glazes and how these methods interact with different clay bodies. Test tiles and small cylinder forms will be provided as hands-on teaching tools.
One could spend a lifetime exploring the endless dance of glaze combinations—each firing a quiet mystery, each result a unique expression of the kiln’s alchemy.
Please note: This is not a chemistry or glaze-mixing workshop. It is strictly an overview of basic glaze application and its results.

Firing and glazing are included, and finished pieces are usually ready for pickup in about two weeks. Light snacks and refreshments are also provided.
